What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a Complementary Therapy that works on the feet or hands. It works on the principle that there is a map of the body on the feet. Following illness or stress the body is in a state of "imbalance". Energy pathways become blocked, and the body begins to function less effectively. Reflexology aims to restore and maintain the body's natural equilibrium and encourage healing.
Thumb pressure is applied to the feet, tiny areas of tension can be felt. Working on these points restores energy and frees the blockages. Energy can flow freely to the whole body again. Tensions are eased, circulation and elimination is improved. This gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself. The sensation and effect of the therapy is unique each individual.
What conditions can it help?
Reflexology treats the whole person, not just the symptoms of disease, most people benefit from treatment. Reflexology is suitable for:

Then I will begin to work on your feet, or hands if necessary, noting areas which feel discomfort. The feeling is is fleeting, and is an indication of congestion or imbalance in a corresponding part of the body. For the most part, the sensation is pleasant and soothing.
Usually a treatment lasts for an hour. Depending on your needs, a course of treatments may be suggested. This will be discussed with you at the first session.
After treatment
After the treatment you may experience different feelings: you may feel very well and relaxed or you may feel lethargic, nauseous or tearful. These feelings are transitory, but quite important to note. This shows how your body is responding to treatment.
After, you should feel calm, your sleep should improve, some people say they have more energy. In time, the symptoms that you first came for reflexology for should improve.
