What is NAET?
NAET or Nambudripad’s Allergy Elimination Technique is a safe and gentle, painless, non-invasive, effective method for diagnosing and treating allergies. Muscle Testing is used to determine allergens and then the principles of acupressure (no needles) are used to re-educate the body and effectively turn off the immune response. It is even possible to treat severe allergies which trigger anaphylaxis. NAET can safely be used to treat people of any age from the new born to old age. It is also possible to treat animals.

What can NAET treat?
Allergies occur when the body reacts to a substance that is harmless. This reaction produces an inappropriate immune response and causes blockages in the energy lines or meridians within the body. Almost anything can become an allergen, the NAET system tests and treats for several types of allergen.

Foods
Usually NAET will test for the component parts of food i.e. the vitamins, minerals, sugars, amino acids, oils etc. It has been found that testing and treating these components is more efficient than looking at individual food items and that treatment often results in the clearing of whole groups of food at a time e.g. clearing fructose, fruit sugar, may clear problems with all fruits.

Non-food
The initial allergy test will cover the most common environmental allergens such as pollens, moulds, house dust/dust mites, household chemicals, perfumes, radiation from phones and computers.

Environmental
It is also possible to have issues with environmental factors including cold and damp, hot and humid, wind. These are quite common and can also be treated using NAET.

Emotional issues
Allergic type symptoms and other unexplained health issues can often be linked to underlying emotional issues. NAET can be used in several ways to clear these issues, by removing these issues it is often possible to clear allergens.
In some cases the practitioner will be able to determine that a particular event in your life is causing you issues and can use NAET treatment to remove your issues with this event.
In other cases a practitioner will diagnose a blockage in a particular meridian which relates to an emotional issue and can use NAET treatment to simply unblock the meridian and therefore remove the underlying issue.
The practitioners also have 78 separate emotional phials and will sometime use these to treat you for emotions.
The practitioner will be able to determine which approach is best for you.

How do we test?
Allergy testing is done using Muscle Testing from Applied Kinesiology. You will usually be asked to lie down on your back and extend one arm straight up from your body. The practitioner will then push against the arm to determine your level of strength. You will then be asked to hold various allergens in glass phials whilst the practitioner pushes on your arm. At times you will unable to keep your arm in position, it will become weak. This change from strong to weak will give the practitioner information as to which allergens you are sensitive to. This type of testing has been in use since the 1960s and is proven to be very effective when done correctly. In the case of children under about 5 or 6 yrs old, for old or infirm people and for animals a surrogate is used. The surrogate lies on the bed and the person to be tested holds their hand or ankle, the surrogate’s arm is used to carry out the testing.

Treatment
The principles of acupressure (no needles) are used to re-educate the body and effectively turn off the immune response. You will be asked to hold allergen phials in your hand whilst various points along your spine are stimulated. Once testing shows that the body is no longer sensitive to the allergens an acupressure device or ‘buzzer’ will be used to activate various points on your hands, arms and feet. You will then be asked to hold onto the allergens for a short time.
Most allergens clear with one treatment, however in the case of longstanding or severe allergies it may take several treatments to completely desensitise your body. Each time you return for treatment the practitioner will check the allergens which were treated the previous time and treat then again if necessary. It is usually possible to also treat a new allergen at the same visit. Sometimes it is necessary to treat combinations of allergens. Common combinations would be yeast with wheat, milk with grains, tomato with cheese, but any combination is possible. Most people have a few combinations, some have more.

After treatment / avoidance
After most treatments you will need to avoid the allergens which have been treated. This avoidance allows the treatment to complete and usually last for about 25hrs. In the case of allergens which it is impossible to avoid, e.g. dust, pollens, urine, milk for small babies, they can still be cleared but it is usually necessary to treat them several times. It is important to eat well and drink plenty of water after treatment. This helps the treatment to be successful.

Basic allergens
There is a group of the most essential nutrients, the Basics, which are normally treated first as this will make the body stronger and improve the condition of the immune system. It is possible to treat other items first, however it is essential to treat these Basics in order to ensure effective treatment.

How many treatments will you need?
This varies from person to person. Usually people need between 10 and 15 treatments, but if you react to a large number of allergens you may need considerably more. For some people clearing the basics will actually result in you becoming desensitised to other allergens and reduce the number of treatments needed.

How often should I come for treatment?
This is entirely up to you. If possible it is best to come once or twice a week, however you can come less frequently. The end result is the same regardless of how often you come, it just takes longer to achieve if you come less frequently.

Are the results permanent?
Many thousands of people have been treated for their allergies since 1983 and statistics have shown that as long as the procedure is carried out correctly there is a negligible chance of the allergy returning. In cases where the allergen may change slightly from year to year you may have to return to be treated for the new allergen, e.g. Hayfever can occasionally return as there are always new plant species being cultivated and therefore new pollens in the air.
